about

This is the first of my two albums from the 1990's, back when I was known as Jim Christopher. I chose the name in order to not be confused with Chris Reed of the British band "Red Lorry Yellow Lorry". We're both solo artists now so it hardly seems worth it now.

Anyway, the band I had been in had just broken up and I was looking for something new to do when I wrote and started playing the riff that became the opening track of the album. I recorded a demo and let a DJ friend of mine listen to it and suddenly I had a local dance hit. Not bad for a guy who just sang, played drums, 2-string acoustic guitar and bass on the recording.

So I decided to write and record a whole album in the same style. I shopped it around but got no bites so I released it independently. It got picked up by local radio and in Japan and all of a sudden I was a known quantity. I got a record deal out of it (which turned into a disaster but that's a tale for another time).

One song, Run To Me, has been re-released recently uncut. The version here is shorter as I was made to cut a chorus at the request of Bob Dylan's lawyers. I only got that sorted out recently.

The entire album, plus one song I didn't release, I recorded for $700 at Pendragon Studios, 100% Analog.
